Andy Scullion

Founder & Managing Director

As Founder and Managing Director, Andy is responsible for the overall leadership of the ACE Power team and strategic direction of the business. He has a decade of experience in the renewables industry across the UK and Australia, having been involved in the development, financing and construction of over $1.2bn worth of renewable assets to date.

Prior to co-founding ACE Power, Andy established the Australian branch of Wirsol Energy in 2016. Whilst serving as Managing Director, he oversaw the acquisition and construction of 6 solar farms and a BESS totalling 575MWp, all of which are now operational; and a further 850MWp under development. He also established the company’s internal O&M and Asset Management divisions, taking projects through the entire life-cycle from development through to operations.

Andy is passionate about the green energy revolution, and specifically finding technical & financial solutions to facilitate the transition. He holds a first-class degree from the University of Manchester in Business and Management.

Mark Hogan

Founder & Non-Executive Director

Mark is the co-founder of ACE Power alongside Andy Scullion and currently serves as a non-executive director. In addition, he is the founder of BOOM Power Ltd who are developing and constructing over 1.5GWp of solar projects in the UK and Spain. He was formerly the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Wirsol Energy Limited from 2014 – 2020 who constructed and financed over 700MWp and developed more than 800MWp of projects across the UK and Australia.

His renewable accomplishments follow on from 20 years’ experience in power electronics – designing and manufacturing leading high efficiency products installed within the renewable sector, mobile communications, data centres and high-end networking/storage equipment to customers such as Google, Facebook, Cisco, Oracle, Huawei, Nokia and Ericsson with global revenues in excess of US$2.5b.

Goga Vukmirovic

Director

Goga is a Partner at Pelion Green Future and oversees the Group’s investment strategy and growth activities with a special focus on North America. She joined Pelion Green Future in 2022.

She is also Founder and Managing Partner at Avente Capital Management, a real estate investment firm, and worked at Eton Park Capital Management, a multi-strategy hedge fund, as an Investment Professional.

Goga holds a BA from Princeton University, JD from Harvard Law School, and MBA from Harvard Business School.

Konrad Horvath

Director

Konrad is a Partner and Managing Director at Pelion Green Future and oversees the Group’s investment strategy and growth activities with a special focus on Australia. He joined Pelion Green Future in 2022.

Prior to joining Pelion, he was Project Leader at The Boston Consulting Group with a focus on sustainability strategies in private-equity-owned companies, and worked for large international corporations in the oil & gas and renewable energy sectors as Engineer and Asset Manager.

Konrad holds a BSc and MA in Petroleum Engineering from the Technical University Clausthal and a MA in China Studies from Zhejiang University in China.

Garth Gum Gee

Network Connections Manager

Garth leads the Network Connections for the ACE Power Projects. He has over 30 years of experience in the Australian electricity industry. In recent years he was a Senior Manager at AEMO, Executive Engineer at professional firm GHD and Connection Manager at Wirsol Energy.

He has managed the successful approval of a portfolio of renewable projects with various jurisdictional bodies including AEMO, Network Companies, DNRME, Essential Services Commission and the CER.

Garth seeks to understand the technical capabilities of a project and how it can best be utilized to comply with the regulatory requirements in a commercial world.

Garth holds a Bachelor of Engineering and Grad Dip Management. He is also a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Energy.

Colm Ahern

Development Director

Colm has over 10 years’ experience in the renewables industry both on the development and consultancy sides, primarily specialising in solar PV and wind energy. He has managed technical advisory projects and portfolios on behalf of lenders and investors during development, construction and operational phases throughout Europe and Australia.

Prior to joining ACE Power, Colm worked at RINA Consulting based in Sydney, where he acted as Owners Engineer on the Middlemount and Edenvale projects, as well as working in a variety of lenders advisory roles on over 300MW of solar farms across NSW, VIC and QLD. Prior to arriving in Australia, Colm worked for renewables consultancy SgurrEnergy in Glasgow for almost 3 years and large-scale windfarm developer Enerco Energy for over 2 years.

Colm holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Sustainable Energy Engineering from Munster Technological University.

Richard Webster, CFA

Finance & Commercial Director

Richard is responsible for the financial position of ACE Power and its projects, and is heavily involved in establishing commercial arrangements across the business. He is an expert in modelling and advising renewable energy transactions, previously leading the APAC Renewable Energy project finance and transaction support stream at Mazars Global Infrastructure Finance and recently running an independent modelling and advisory business for projects in the US and Australia.

Having worked with clients such as Breakthrough Energy, Neoen, CWP, PowAR, Tilt, Orsted and many more, Richard has been responsible for financial models being used to develop and operate GWs of projects across solar, onshore and offshore wind, storage and off-grid systems within the APAC region.

Richard holds a first-class BSc in Natural Sciences (Maths with Psychology) from the University of Durham, an MSc in Energy and Metals Finance from Imperial College London and is a CFA charterholder.

Shane Humphreys

Senior Development Manager & BESS Lead

Shane is an accomplished engineer with over a decade of renewables experience in Europe and Australia, primarily specialising in solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

Within ACE Power, Shane leads the storage development side of the business, and is responsible for bringing ACE Power’s BESS portfolio through the entire development cycle including assessing prospects, obtaining DA and grid approvals, negotiating project contracts and preparing assets for financing.

Prior to joining ACE Power, Shane was developing solar, BESS and green hydrogen projects for Providence Climate Capital and prior to this Shane held a Senior Engineering position at RINA Consulting. He has provided full suites of engineering services on several GW of projects to lenders, owners and developers and advised major international firms including ING, Natixis, Lightsource and Total Eren, amongst numerous others.

Shane holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Sustainable Energy Engineering from Munster Technological University.

Laura Tyrrell

Head of Wind Development

Laura is an electrical engineer by training with more than 17 years of direct experience in the energy & renewable energy industry including the development of large-scale wind and solar farms around Australia with Epuron, Infigen Energy and APA and, more recently, solar farm developments around the UK with JBM Solar. 

Laura’s substantial experience ranges from early-stage project identification and licencing through to managing operations for a 600+MW portfolio of wind farms. Her expertise includes site origination, securing land and optimising wind farm design and layouts, managing environmental constraints, planning approvals, community engagement and grid connection applications. Additionally, Laura has successfully developed a number of planning approved renewable energy projects.

Laura holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Victoria in Canada.

Caitlin Horan

Business & Operations Support

Caitlin provides operational and administrative support to all areas of the business including the land, development, finance and legal teams. She brings over a decade of experience in administration including 5 years in the renewable energy industry.

Prior to joining ACE Power, Caitlin supported the business and finance functions of the APAC renewables team at RINA Consulting which included bookkeeping and finance support, office management and project support for over 30 project managers across Australia, Singapore and Vietnam.

Caitlin holds a Bachelor of Health from Macquarie University and is excited about being part of Australia’s transition to clean energy.

Clancy Bowman

Senior Development Manager

Clancy is a development manager with extensive experience in securing development planning approvals and environmental impact assessment for over 700MW of wind and solar energy projects across New South Wales.

He is highly proficient in using a range of spatial analysis programs to assess site suitability across ecological, community and visual impact, and interpreting this analysis to inform commercial decisions for each site.

Clancy started his career on the delivery of large-scale linear infrastructure projects such as WestConnex and The Northern Road upgrade, before transitioning to the renewable energy sector.

Clancy holds a Bachelor of Science in Resources and Environmental Management from the Australian National University.

Sam Stewart

Head of Land

Sam is a seasoned property and land specialist with a focus on land acquisition and development. Heading up the land team at ACE Power, he excels in site and project origination, stakeholder relations, and negotiating tenure agreements for ACE Power’s development pipeline across Australia. With extensive experience spanning various sectors including renewables, Sam has spearheaded distributed asset acquisition projects nationwide.

Before joining ACE Power, Sam successfully managed land acquisition endeavors for industry-leading clients, overseeing site origination, engaging with landowners, and establishing crucial stakeholder relationships. His passion for the renewables sector drives him to collaborate with stakeholders, securing mutually beneficial tenure outcomes for ACE Power’s renewable energy projects.

Sam holds a Bachelor of Property and Sustainable Development from Bond University.

Josh Thomson

Land Manager

Josh is the Queensland Land Manager and is experienced in covering the front end of the development cycle including site identification, relationship management, tenure negotiation and greenfield acquisitions. Having worked for various multinational corporations specialising in real estate and essential infrastructure, Josh has been involved in the delivery of several hundred million dollars’ worth of property related transactions to date.

During his tenure at ACE Power, Josh has successfully negotiated land access agreements for wind, solar and battery facilities, securing over 500,000 acres of land for renewable energy infrastructure and making a significant contribution to ACE Power’s impressive development pipeline.

Josh is passionate about sustainability and the long-term commercial benefits renewable energy can facilitate for landowners and regional communities.

Josh holds a Bachelor of Business (Real Estate and Property Development) & Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) from Griffith University.

Daniel Ross

Development Associate

Daniel is a Development Associate with a strong background in GIS, focusing on wind resource, site and transmission assessment. He is skilled at using EMD windPRO and has significant experience in pre-feasibility and concept design assessment for wind assets. Daniel is adept in optimizing site layouts using mesoscale, captured and derived data paired with advanced geospatial analysis. His skillset also applies to the early-stage design of solar sites using RatedPower, where he designs and creates conceptual solar PV sites. Daniel is passionate about the power of GIS and upskilling his colleagues in its use cases.

Prior to joining ACE Power, Daniel worked for the New Zealand ESRI distributor Eagle Technology and electrical engineering consultancy Ergo. Here he worked across several industries, including utilities, forestry, dairy and government, using GIS to inform, analyse and advise clients in solving their business problems.

Daniel holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) majoring in Geography and Environmental Science from Auckland University.

Development Manager

Matthew is a Development Manager with a background in Electrical Engineering and Project Management spanning 8 years across the telecommunications and renewable energy industries.

During his time at ACE Power, Matthew has focused on identifying potential sites for new developments and negotiating the land tenure agreements for these projects to build on ACE Power’s development pipeline. His move into the development team will see him manage these projects through the development lifecycle to financial close.

Prior to joining ACE Power, Matthew worked for a tier one telecommunications delivery partner delivering fixed and mobile network projects across Australia for all major carriers, where he managed projects from site acquisition through to integration to the network.

Matthew holds a Bachelor of Engineering – Electrical and Electronics (Hons) from Swinburne University.

Cloe Woodward

Internal Counsel

As ACE Power’s Internal Counsel, Cloe works on a wide range of legal affairs including land procurement, grid connection, development, construction and offtake. She is particularly focused on land tenure agreements and works closely with the land and development teams.

Prior to joining ACE Power Cloe was a commercial lawyer at Johnson Winter and Slattery and worked on transactions in the renewable energy sector, advising owners, developers and foreign purchasers of solar and wind farms. She also advised on planning and property development, environmental compliance, regulatory approvals, and government policy, as well as assisting clients with environment and planning due diligence.

Cloe also supported the in-house legal team at a global renewable energy owner, operator and developer, advising on offtake arrangements and the construction, long-term operation, maintenance and decommissioning of renewable energy assets.

Cloe holds a Juris Doctorate from Monash University and gains immense satisfaction from being part of Australia’s transition to a low-carbon future.

Darrel Roberts

Land Manager

Darrel is a Land Manger with over 10 years’ site identification and acquisition experience.

Prior to working in the renewable energy sector, he was a specialist consultant within the telecommunications industry and has worked with all major Australian carriers on large, national projects.

At ACE Power, Darrel has been instrumental in securing an exciting pipeline of developments amidst a highly competitive WA market.

He enjoys engaging with landowners and communities, and working towards creating energy from clean, renewable sources.

Darrel holds a Bachelor of Business and Commerce from Monash University.

James Yorston

Development Director

James is an Australian renewable energy industry veteran with 20 years of experience across project development, construction and operation of renewable assets. He has deep industry knowledge and connections having worked across the project lifecycle on a range of technologies including Wind Farms, Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage and Solar Thermal Systems.

Prior to joining ACE, James was Director of Energy Operations at Providence Climate Capital where he was responsible for project development and asset management teams and also Principal Consultant at RINA Consulting where he advised lenders and major international firms on over 1GW of project acquisitions and financing.

James holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from the University of Technology Sydney.

Joel Adih

Land Manager

Joel is an experienced land and property professional with over a decade of experience working with landowners to facilitate infrastructure implementation. He enjoys working with landowners during the project rollout to ensure that the owners’ intended land use and the new infrastructure will coexist harmoniously.

Within ACE Power, Joel’s responsibilities include initial site selection, liaising with landowners, and establishing land tenure agreements. Joel also has a keen interest in rural property matters and is enthusiastic about promoting clean energy from renewable sources. He is excited about the benefits that this can bring to both property owners and local communities.

Joel holds a Bachelor of Property from the University of South Australia and is currently based in Adelaide.

Justin Hitchen

Investment Manager

Justin is an experienced investment professional with eight years of industry and research experience. As Investment Manager at ACE Power, he is responsible for all project financial modelling; assisting with the procurement, valuation, and negotiation of PPAs and other offtake contracts including exotic derivatives; capital budgeting modelling and debt / equity raise processes; and team mentoring.

Justin has previously worked as a financial modeller for New Energy Solar, a global mandate renewable energy infrastructure fund. Having joined immediately after its first capital raise (~$200m), he helped the fund rapidly expand to over $1billion in enterprise value and was involved in the diligence team for 14 of the 15 assets successfully acquired by the fund during his tenure. Justin also has experience in both debt and equity capital raising processes.

Justin has a passion for understanding and participating in financial markets. More recently, he studied a PhD in finance at the University of Technology, Sydney where his research centred around refinement of the tools utilised for investment decision making.

Andrew Johnson

Development Manager

Andrew is a specialist in managing large scale technical projects. He has over a decade of experience in the property development sector working for Australia’s leading property companies as both a development and acquisition manager. Having managed the complete life cycle of projects, he has experience in developing assets across many different property sectors from inception to completion.

Andrew has also successfully operated a satellite communications service provider managing projects across four continents focusing on systems integration, site selection and acquisition and in-country representation and support for international clients.

A passion for the renewable energy sector has brought Andrew to ACE Power where he can concentrate his skills on developing new sites in the endeavour of transitioning Australia’s energy generation.

Andrew holds a Bachelor of Property Economics from the University of Technology, Sydney and has undertaken post graduate studies including a Diploma of Renewable Energy Engineering and Wind Energy Course at the Australian National University.

James Martin

General Counsel

James is a highly experienced renewable energy lawyer with a passion for facilitating environmental change, sustainability and a zero carbon future. He has broad experience in the development of renewable projects, including financing, offtake, acquisition/sale and negotiation of key project documentation. He is experienced in M&A, corporate advisory and general commercial law with a strong background in infrastructure and private equity.

He is skilled at providing legally sound and commercially astute advice and acting as trusted adviser to business – including senior management, boards and investment committees. He takes pride in guiding and advising multidisciplinary teams on renewable energy projects to maximise their prospects and impact. Prior to joining ACE, James worked at RES Australia and was a senior associate at Allens.

He holds an L.L.B (Hons) from the University of NSW.

Senior Finance Manager

Irena is a finance professional with substantial experience in corporate and project finance and accounting. Starting her career at KPMG in Europe, she has also worked long-term in the Middle East and Australia, primarily in the resources and energy sectors. Prior to joining ACE Power, Irena lead the finance function of Lightsource bp for Australia and New Zealand covering the development, construction, and operation of over 600 MW of solar projects.

Irena holds a Master’s degree in Business Management and Administration from The University of National and World Economy, Sofia (Bulgaria). She has also graduated from the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is a member of CPA Australia.

Juan Nasta

Graduate GIS Analyst

Juan works closely with the Land and Development teams as a Graduate GIS Analyst, using his GIS skills to assist with all stages of the development process from site origination to resource analysis and design. He is passionate about environmental stewardship and the clean energy transition globally, and is excited about contributing to Australia’s changing energy market landscape.

Juan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina and has recently completed a thesis focused on the production of biomethane from cow manure, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at replacing diesel consumption in Argentina’s mining industry.

Finance & Investments Graduate

Angelica recently completed a degree in business and finance with a focus on financial analysis, forecasting, and risk management. Angelica has a strong interest in renewables investment and is excited to develop her skills as she supports the Finance team in both corporate and project financial modelling. She is passionate about supporting Australia’s transition to clean energy.

Angelica holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with a Bachelor of Psychology from Macquarie University.

Land Associate

Marcus is a Land Associate supporting the Land team in identifying potential sites across Australia for the development of wind, solar and battery projects. He draws from his knowledge of natural resource management and environmental preservation to inform site identification and selection. Marcus is enthusiastic about increasing Australia’s supply of renewable energy to create a more sustainable future.

He is in the final stages of a dual Bachelor’s degree in Economics (Natural Resources and Environment) & Business Management (International Business) at the University of Queensland.

Fraser Woodley

Development Manager

Fraser is a Development Manager at ACE Power with a background in solar PV and battery storage project development and, formerly, environmental consultancy. Fraser is focused on supporting the development of the ACE Power battery storage portfolio and is responsible for managing several BESS projects through the development process.

Prior to joining ACE Power Fraser worked as a project developer for a large Spanish-based IPP as it established a presence in the highly competitive UK renewables market. Previously he also worked as an Environmental Impact Assessment specialist on major infrastructure projects.

Fraser holds an MEnvSci in Environmental Sciences from the University of Southampton, UK.
