Talbingo Battery
Talbingo Battery is a proposed 4-hour 450 MW battery located on private land immediately adjacent to Transgrid’s 330 kV Lower Tumut Switching Station, 2.8km south of the township of Talbingo. The Project submitted a Scoping Report in November 2024 and received SEARs in December 2024 and is currently preparing an EIS as part of the Stage Significant Development Approval application to the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure. The Project is also continuing it’s community engagement and consultation.
The proposed Talbingo Battery is located about 700m from the Tumut 3 Power Station, the largest operating hydroelectric generator in Australia. The Talbingo Battery will assist in firming the electrical network and providing system services to the electrical network in NSW.
The project is being developed as part of ACE Power’s commitment to help Australia transition to a clean energy future.
